World of Echo I'm coming across this 2018 EP in 2024, and it's vibing with me on a level like (the likewise-seemingly-to-not-be-followed-up-either EP / just-one-and-done-EP) Sharada Shashidhar's EP. Here's hoping I'm wrong and one day Maïa releases more music. =)

about

We feel like our label is best known for upbeat, and left-field dance renditions - but it's exciting to keep people guessing. And on that note, we're psyched to announce our new signee: Maïa!

Maïa is of South African and Italian descent but grew up in our hometown of Brisbane. We've been following her progression closely for quite some time, notably after she dropped her impressive "lo-fi mixtape" on SoundCloud last year.

So, earlier this year we reached out, and thankfully Maïa blessed us with a brand new EP to share with the world - further growing our talented Brisbane family (see: Luen, Super Fun Bumper Edition, Chord Memory Band and Sam Stosuur).

Maïa's music is entirely self-produced, which is likely what makes her sound vividly warm and intimate. She draws influence from current bands like The Internet and Potatohead People, along with love for acid jazz, afrobeat, South African house, and soul - to name a few.

Maïa's "Motion" EP is another milestone our label, as we continue to amplify the diverse and vibrant sounds coming out of Brisbane, Australia.
